A Tribute For Michael Steuerman by Charlie Frair
Ending hunger, actually the world, has lost a good friend.
Michael Steuerman, a long time partner in ending hunger, passed away this March. I first met Michael in the early years of the Hunger Project and as a leader in World Runners. He was the real deal, an ending hunger activist through and through. With Partners’ he was a contributor and a member of our Advisory Council. He influenced and participated in so many ending hunger organizations it boggles one’s mind.
Michael contributed to people in so many ways. My experience of him was as the best connector I have ever met. He connected people. I cannot even count the people I know and the relationships I have because of him. He was always telling me “I want you to meet…..”. Putting people together who were then better off was his gift. His legacy lives on in the networks of people he brought together all over the country.
Michael was a great human being. I never heard him complain, I never heard him gossip, he only talked in the language of possibility, what was possible for people and the world. He was generous. Anyone who knew him was touched by him and their life was a better life. Michael made a difference and the world is better off than it was before him because of him.
Michael Steuerman we will miss you. We love you and we promise, in your honor to not stop until hunger is ended once and for all, forever.
